I went to Houston to visit a travel friend Joe for a few days. It was nice to get out of cold Wisconsin to warm Texas.
Thursday, 12/25 - I caught a 5:30 am flight Christmas Day, arriving at 8:30 am. It was a warm 75 degrees. Joe's neighbors came over for Christmas lunch in the afternoon and we had a nice time chatting and eating ham, turkey and assorted delicious side dishes. At night we went to see this house that won a contest for the best decorated house.
Friday, 12/26 - It was a humid 78 degrees. I ran 10 miles, including the 3 mile loop in Memorial Park. Then Joe and I went sightseeing. We stopped first at Kohl's so I could buy a new pair of tennis shoes. Then we visited the the Beer Can House, Johnson Space Center, Kemah Boardwalk, San Jacinto Museum and the Battleship Texas in Houston today. We ate leftovers at home then went out to experience the nightlife in Houston by visiting a few bars.
Saturday, 12/27 - It was a warm 75 degrees. I ran 10 miles, including the 3 mile loop in Memorial Park. Joe stayed home sick while I enjoyed visiting the Houston Museum of Natural Science, the Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Holocaust Museum Houston. At night, we went out for Mexican food at Los Cucos. Came home and went to bed early.
Sunday, 12/28 - It was a cold 55 degrees. I ran 10 miles, including the 3 mile loop in Memorial Park. We visited the Byzantine Fresco Chapel Museum and the Rothko Chapel, then went to see the Transiberian Orchestra at the Toyota Center in Downtown Houston in the afternoon. We went out for Vietnamese food afterwards at Mai's Restaurant and then went home and watched a movie.
Monday, 12/29 - It was 68 degrees. I ran 10 miles, including the 3 mile loop in Memorial Park. Chris went shopping at the huge Galleria Mall in Houston and spent $300. We went out for Greek food at Niko Niko's and visited the Central Market. It's the last day in Houston. Back to Wisconsin tomorrow.
Tuesday, 12/30 - Joe dropped me off at the airport at 6 am. I got back to Milwaukee at 10 am and went to the office to check email and download pictures from Houston.
